Ghosts Intro

To begin ghost hunting it is essential to understand what ghost are. Unfortunately there is no definitive answer to the question: what is a ghost, but there are many theories and research has given much insight into the phenomenon. The word ghost is defined as an apparition of a dead person that is believed to appear or manifest to the living, typically as nebulous image.

Many researchers claim that ghost are in fact spirits of the dead. Some feel that they are spirits that are "trapped" because they either experienced a traumatic death, they could not let this world go, or that they just don't know that they are dead. Research has shown that there are many different types of ghost.

One type of spirit is one that is trying to communicate to send some type of message. This type of haunting is known as an intelligent haunting. The ghost interact with their surroundings. An example of this type haunting would be when the Manchester Paranormal Investigations team conducted a ghost hunt in the Shanley Hotel in Napanoch, New York. They asked questions and caught responses on a "spirit box" and also had a flashlight turn on and off when the spirit was asked to do so.       Another type of ghost appears to be an energy that stays in this realm. The energy repeats itself, constantly going through the same motions over and over. This would be much like watching a movie, rewinding it, and watching it over millions of times. These are known as a residual haunting. An example of this type of haunting would be unexplained footsteps that seem to happen in the same place over and over again.        Some ghost can be rowdy to say the least. They can create quiet a ruckus. They are noisy and like to move or throw things around. They typically will try and harass their victims.
